Story by Red Jungle Team

In Thailand's Andaman Sea, between Krabi and Koh Lanta, lies a small island called Koh Jum.

Far from the busy beaches of Phi Phi, the nightlife of Phuket and the more developed tourist areas of Koh Lanta, Koh Jum offers something different. It is known for its natural beauty, small bungalows and relaxed way of life.

People come here for simple pleasures: the sea, nature, good food and quiet days.

## An Island Close to Nature

Arriving on Koh Jum feels like entering a different world. Tropical trees, small roads, fishing boats and bungalows near the beach are all part of the landscape.

Some places look almost like a movie set. But Koh Jum is not a place created for tourists. It is a real island with its own communities and daily life.

The northern part of the island is also known as Koh Pu, with green hills and tropical forests. On the west coast, long beaches face the Andaman Sea and offer beautiful sunsets.

In the villages of Koh Pu, Ting Rai and Koh Jum, fishing, rubber farming and small family businesses remain part of everyday life. Local culture is an important part of the island's identity.

## Bungalow Life and the Sea

One of the best ways to experience Koh Jum is to stay in a small bungalow surrounded by nature.

Some are very simple, while others offer more comfort. What makes them special is their connection to the outdoors. Trees, fresh air and the sounds of tropical wildlife are never far away.

Days can begin with a swim, followed by a walk along the beach or a long lunch at a small local restaurant.

Long Beach and other beaches on the west coast are popular places to relax and enjoy the sunset. Tides and seasonal weather can change swimming conditions, so it is worth choosing the right beach and time of day.

There is no need to fill every hour with activities. Sometimes the sea, a good meal and a quiet afternoon in the shade are enough.

## Evenings on Koh Jum

Evenings have their own special atmosphere.

Instead of the large parties and crowded bars found in Phuket or Phi Phi, Koh Jum offers small beach restaurants and relaxed places to meet.

Travellers from different countries sit together, share stories and talk about their journeys. New friendships often begin over dinner or while watching the sunset.

The island's evenings are more about conversation than loud music.

Fresh seafood and the rich flavours of southern Thai food make these moments even better.

## Life at Its Own Pace

Tourism continues to develop on Koh Jum, with different places to stay and small businesses welcoming visitors. Yet the island still feels different from Thailand's larger tourist destinations.

Local villages, fishing traditions and life close to nature remain important parts of its character.

Koh Jum may not be for everyone. Those looking for busy nightlife, shopping and constant entertainment might find it too quiet.

But for travellers who enjoy the sea, nature, simple living and meeting new people, it offers something special.

After a few days, you may find yourself wanting to stay in the same bungalow a little longer instead of moving on to the next destination.

Perhaps that is the real beauty of Koh Jum: enjoying where you are, without feeling the need to do more.
